Recently our "Sermon Player" host changed systems to accommodate the increasing number of users to their services. In so doing, all of our archived sermons before October 5th have become inaccessible. If you're looking for a sermon dated before October 5th please check back in a couple of weeks, the "Sermon Player" techies are working hard to transfer millions of sermons from thousands of churches across the globe onto their new host system. Thanks for your patience.

At Corner-Stone, our youth ministry is filled with incredible friendships, worship and discipleship. Students in grades 6-12 will find worship that rocks, and Bible study that moves beyond storytelling to explore what living a life like Christ really means.

They spent 2 ½ years in Boling, TX before moving to Jefferson, GA in 2000. Bruce and Sanita have two sons Zachary and Micah. Jack Kemp – A couple of years ago, after seasons of living a nominal Christian walk, Jack begin to experience with increasing clarity the overwhelming truth and reality of God’s work in Christ. He has been making up for lost time ever since! Educated at Michigan State University he received his J.D. in 1999 and is a practicing attorney. Jack also served our country as a diver in the U.S. Army. Jack and his wife Jennie Ann have 3 children Christian, Kaya, Sienna and another one on the way. Jack sees “God-centered” worship, true biblical “teaching,” and an evangelistic focus on personal member growth as some of Corner-Stone’s greatest strengths.

Vic Pesaresi – The dashing (so he’s told) Vic Pesaresi attended church all of his life but was saved in 1988. He has since served in several administrative and ministry positions in the churches where he has been a member. Vic has served the public as a police officer for 25 years and is currently serving as CFO of Corner-Stone. Everyone who knows would agree that Vic is lucky to be married to Dianne (Dee) for 24 years. They have 3 sons Anthony, Nicky and Michael. Vic’s passion for the growth of the church is easy to see as is the joy of the Lord. Vic has a way of making people laugh and apparently has no problem laughing at himself either, as can be evidenced by his insistence to allow him to perform as a solo vocalist.

In November, Corner-Stone moved out of the school and into a perminant facility. An older church in our association had been without a Pastor for some time when we began discussing what it might look like for us to join congregations. After months of planning the remaining congregation of Romans Road Baptist Church has joined the Corner-Stone team. We now worship as one body and look forward to our public re-launch on January 6th, 2008.

Montego Bay, JA - Pastor Kesla Forbes, daughter Kelyssa and wife Jennolyn

Our first trip to Jamaica proved profitable. We have established relationships with 3 local churches and plan to return to minister to them next summer. Additionally, we are working to establish a clothes bank that we can supply from Georgia. A group of volunteers from each of the Jamaican churches will cooperate to manage the bank. Finally, we have identified key lay leaders in each church who are willing to receive training through email discussions with Corner-Stone. Pray for Pastor Kesla and his family and plan to join us next summer!

This Summer Pastor Darrel will be taking a small group from Corner-Stone on an investigative Mission trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Pastor Darrel will teach 5 times in that week to a gathering of several local churches in an effort to establish strong local relationships for future ministry. Radley King, a member of Corner-Stone who grew up in Montego Bay, has arranged meetings with local officials to help C-S clearly understand the needs of the area. To be sure, Jamaica is not ALL vacation resort. We hope to make an impact for the fame of our Lord in Jamaica!
Pray with us.

It has been said that starting a Church is much like starting a business. It is also said that a business that can make it past the first year is sure to succeed...I'm not really sure WHO is saying all this stuff but it sounds good anyway! God has blessed C-S with a wonderful group of core families that we are proud to call both members and friends. Looking forward to how God will continue to change the face of C-S through every added family.

The Kid's Corner ministry continues to grow! It has proved to be a place parents feel comfortable and excited to leave their little ones each week. Currently the Kid's Corner ministers to children from Birth through 11 years of age. As we grow and the needs grow this age range will grow. If you have children...this may be their best day all week!

Corner-Stone has officially begun Sunday morning worship services! We invite you to join us at either 9:30 or 11:00am every Sunday at West Jackson Intermediate School. For friends and family that have been praying for the families and ministry of Corner-Stone we thank the Lord for your prayers and support. We believe our first two weekends of worship have been a smashing success! We have based our success on God's criteria of worship - that He be given all glory. We've also had new visitors in all services. Thank you Lord! Pastor Darrel has exhorted us to make Christ the "chief cornerstone" in our lives, as He is the only standard by which we can make sense and determine real meaning and purpose for our lives. If you or someone you know needs to hear about Christ's all sufficiency click on "Your Cornerstone?", or call or email us, we would love to hear from you. Don't forget to visit our website at least every other week or so for continued updates.

JUST A FEW SHORT WEEKS UNTIL LAUNCH! Corner-Stone is about to take its next big step. The prepartion phase has been lengthy but we believe that it has been well worth our time. On March 5th we will have our first official Sunday morning Worship services. Our goal for that Sunday is simple...to honor God in Worship and learn from His Word. We have made it our goal to not be concerned with getting the world's attention. Instead, we will seek our Lord's attention and allow Him to get the world's attention. We have no grand numerical goal for our first Sunday...instead we have simply committed to be in Worship and the Word regardless of who attends.
That being said, we have taken every step to be as prepared as possible for those that do attend. Our Children's Ministry has made every effort to be as organized and effective as possible. While we will not possibly be able to offer "everything" to "everyone" at the start, we believe that what we do offer will be excellent.
Please pray that God be honored through this new Church and that it keeps aligned with the one who is our Chief Corner-Stone!

THANK YOU for keeping up with the progress of Corner-Stone. Since our last update, we have taken advantage of a number of opportunities around the community for getting the word out. The most recent was a booth at the Hoschton Fall Festival. Our Core-Team worked hard giving away free cotton candy, popcorn, balloons, and Corner-Stone information cd's. We were able to meet hundreds of people in those two days. We are continuing to meet every Sunday NIGHT from 5-6 for Core-Group development. In addition to spending much needed time in prayer for Corner-Stone we have walked half-way through Philippians...a GREAT book to start a Church with. The most exciting development has been God's confirmation through the addition of our Worship Pastor Preston Philpott. Preston is currently on staff with Team-Impact ministries and the Worship Pastor for a Church Plant in Denton, Texas. Preston has led worship in churches from coast to coast and is not only a talented musician but a gifted Worship Leader/Teacher at heart. Preston will be flying in to meet with our Advisory-Team on Oct. 29th and then our Core-Team will have the opportunity to fellowship with Preston at our Oct. 30th Sunday Night meeting. Corner-Stone is blessed to have him and his wonderful wife Robin join us permanently early in the new year. Visit the "Meet Our Staff" page for more on the Philpotts. Please continue to pray for the expansion of our Core-Team. The community is ready for our Church...we must be ready for the community! Pray for Preston and Robin's transition from Texas to Georgia. Pray that God raise up the finances needed to launch this Church. Finally, pray that God continue to open doors of opportunity for us to be servants and ministers in our surrounding communities.
JULY-AUGUST UPDATE - News

After 2 Sunday night Core Team Fellowships in our home, we decided to move into a public location. Therefore starting in August, we began meeting in a local school. Our primary daily focus is getting into the community, building relationships, and ministering through service. We are making lots of great contacts that will prove to be profitable for the future of Corner-Stone Church, but finding folks to be the foundational stones is our greatest need. The work of building a Core Team from absolute scratch is a tough, SLOW task.
Everyone we talk with is excited about having a new church in the area. I have no doubt that many families will visit when we launch our Sunday morning services. Meanwhile, please pray that God raise up a handful of people who are committed to preparing us for those Sunday morning services.

Financially we are stable. We could continue 'as is' for about 8 months. Adding more staff, launching in January, etc. will of course shorten that outlook.

Currently, I am serving our local high school football team as an unofficial Chaplain of sorts. On August 16th I begin a weekly, men's AM Bible study at a coffee shop nearby. In September, we will begin meeting every Sunday night instead of every other. On Sunday morning, September 4th, I will be preaching at one of our partner Churches here in the Atlanta area, Graystone Community Church.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We couldn't do it without you!

Blessings,
Darrel
Lead Pastor

May-June Update - News

The end of May and beginning of June have been a challenging transition for our family. Kimberly, Grady and I have moved from TX to GA and bought a home on the southern edge of Jeffferson in a community called Magnolia Pointe. Our new home is a true blessing! Saturday June 25th will be our first Advisory Team Meeting. The Corner-Stone Advisory Team is made up of representatives from all our partnering Churches and Associations. This Team will oversee Corner-Stone in the early years while God raises up men to lead as Elders. July 10th will be the start of our Sunday Evening gatherings. Corner-Stone will meet only on Sunday evenings until our Sunday Morning public launch which is set for January 1st. This Church is truly starting from scratch- an exciting and yet intimidating challenge! Please help us by praying that: God prepare our family for the work ahead-God raise up a strong Core Group-God provide all the resources needed to start from scratch-God prepare the spiritual soil of these communities-We keep our focus on the glory of Christ who is our Corner-Stone. We are praying that God will show Himself strong and faithful to all those who are watching the birth of Corner-Stone Church. Check back monthly for updates on our progress and don't hesitate to email questions, prayers, or words of encouragement as oft as you like. Blessings, Darrel Email Darrel

By the end of May Kimberly, Grady and I will be back in GA. We have found a home on the southern-most edge of Jefferson that will place us in the center of the communities we hope to reach. As soon as we are settled, we will begin gathering the Core Group on Sunday nights in our home. Regular Sunday morning worship services are planned to begin January 1st of 2006 in a location central to our target area but still yet to be determined.
We will use the 6 months before the January 1st launch to gather a strong Core Group, build as many relationships as possible, and to prepare for the initial ministries that must be in place (like a Children's Ministry).
Please help us by praying that: God prepare our family for the work ahead-God raise up a strong Core Group-God provide all the resources needed to start from scratch-God prepare the spiritual soil of these communities-We keep our focus on the glory of Christ who is our Corner-Stone.

February 15th Update - News

Greetings! This month we began asking some special individuals and couples to consider helping us start this new family of faith. If you or someone you know is interested in being part of this unique and exciting opportunity please contact us as soon as possible. We are already making plans for our Core-Group Gatherings to begin in July! Pray that God raise up a solid group of servants who want to see these communities touched with the good news.

Fund-raising is steady...God blesses each week! We are in the process of formalizing partnerships with a number of strong Churches around the country and in the North GA area.
It is our prayer that these partner churches bless us in a variety of ways...prayer, Godly counsel, volunteers, equipment, etc. are just a few of the ways that we hope to receive support from these established sister churches.

In mid-March our family will be traveling to GA for the wedding of a friend. Please pray that we will be able to make significant progress that week in finding a home central to the area in which we plan to minister.

We are praying that God will show Himself strong and faithful to all those who are watching the birth of Corner-Stone Church.

Check back monthly for updates on our progress and don't hesitate to email questions, prayers, or words of encouragement as oft as you like.

Blessings,
